The Thai Jet Club and The Pattaya Airport Co. Ltd. are pleased to invite all jet pilots all over the world to participate In the 4th Jet World Masters 2001 in Thailand.

The event will be run under the direction of the Thai Jet Club with Mr.Piyasin Changtrakul as the Contest Director.

The organising committee has the full co-operation from the Tourism Authority of Thailand (a special Thai Government agency dealing with the country's tourism industry) and also support from several sponsors in the private sector to help promote the event to an international level.

With a heavy investment from Mr.Chira Ratanarat, the chairman of the newly set up company (The Pattaya Airport Co., Ltd.), we have just built up a new full size runway to assure you that the competition site will be one of the best.

At the time of this report there are 23 countries with more than 370 participants already sent in their pre-entry information. The organising committee truly appreciates your co-operation and hope to make this event an enjoyable experience for all of you.

The organising committee regrets the delay of the official website <www.thaiturbines.com>. We hope to have it launched no later than the end of February 2001. All additional information, entry forms and bulletins will be posted in the website as soon as possible.

  • 1. Location
  • The 4th Jet World Masters will be held at the new 600 X 16 Metres runway of the Pattaya Airport Co. Ltd. airfield. Situated just a few minutes' drive from the world famous Pattaya beach. The site can be reached in less than 2 hours' drive from Bangkok via an expressway.

  • 2. Date and Duration
  • The original proposed date and duration for the next JWM is one whole week in late November 2001. The main reason is to guarantee the best weather during the competition. However, the number of preliminary participants received indicated that we might have more than 100 aircraft at the competition resulting in a competition longer than originally planned.

    The organisers leave this matter open to discussion at the meeting.

  • 3. Competition Rules
  • The competition will be run according to the current IJMC rules.

  • 4. Official Language
  • English is the official language and will be used throughout the competition.

     

  • 5. Entry fees
  • The entry fees for the competition, payable In THB (Thai Baht) are as follows:

    Team manager THB 12,000

    Competitors THB 12,000

    Official Helpers THB 4,000

    Supporters THB 2,000

    Official press personnel THB 0

    Note: The current exchange rate is approximately DM 1 to THB 20

    US$1 to THB43

     

    The Official Hotel

    The Ambassador City Jomtien is chosen to be the official hotel for the next JWM because of its size (5000+ rooms) and its own private beach and lots of other functions and facilities. It is also situated very close (maximum 10 minutes' drive) to the competition site.

    The organising committee was able to secure last year's (2000) tariff with the hotel management by booking 500 rooms in advance for the event.

    Tariff is THB 2,150 for a double room (for 2 persons) per night. Full breakfast is included.

    Hotel room reservation is to be made only through the organising committee.

    The organising committee is planning to run a shuttle bus (at nominal cost) between the competition site and the hotel for your convenience.

  • 7. Transportation

    a) Air transport

  • The organising committee wish to report that at this time the contact between the organiser and Thai Airways International, our National Carrier, has not yet been established. However, with the help of the Tourism Authority of Thailand we might be able to get some support in term of sponsorships. The ultimate goal is to get some reduced fare air tickets for the participants and the organising committee will continue to pursue this matter and hope to get some result very soon.

  • b) Land transport
  • Several international rental car companies operate in Thailand. Details will be given soon in the first bulletin.

  • 8. Closing date for entry
  • Closing date for entry is 3 months before the competition.

  • 9. Electricity
  • Electricity in Thailand is 220 Volts 1 50 Hertz. Please prepare your electrical appliances accordingly.

  • 10. Practice facility
  • The competition site will be open for practice flying one week before the competition with full frequency control.

  • 11. Frequencies
  • Most European frequencies in use are welcome. Please wait for more details that will be posted in the first bulletin.

  • 12. Preliminary registration
  • By 31 December 2000, the following countries have submitted a preliminary entry to the 4th Jet World Masters 2001 competition:

    Australia, Austria, Belgium, China (Hong Kong), China (Taiwan), England, Finland, Germany, Greece, Iran, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, Northern Ireland, Norway, Scotland, Singapore, Spain, South Africa, Sweden, Switzerland, Tatarian Republic and Thailand
