In memory of Roger Shipley

Roger Shipley, 30 July 1933 - 2 januari 2017

We deeply regret to announce the death of Roger Shipley who passed away on January 2nd 2017 in the morning suddenly and unexpected while reading his newspaper at home.

Roger was a driving force and organizer in the United States, he was the Contest Director in the IJMC Jet World Masters in Dayton in 2011.

Citation of his friend, AMA Foundation Board Member, Dan Bott:

"Roger will be missed by many in the international jet modeling community, but not nearly as much as he will be missed by us in the US.
The US Jet Team would not have existed as a long standing participant in JWM without Roger and his vision, passion and leadership skills.
More than Rogers's leadership, he was a friend to many with a wonderful smile and sense of humor. Andy Andrews and I rounded out the current leadership of Jet Team USA and we were fortunate to be part of Rogers's spirit and his vision for jet scale competition.
Rogers love for the hobby made it easy for him to support our latest effort to expand a way to get more jet enthusiast into scale jet competition ranks.
Our recent efforts with the AMA were just getting started to create a pathway so a broader group could enjoy the competition of scale jet competition.
We will miss his enthusiasm and in his honor we will continue with the vision."

Rogers sudden death is a great loss for the whole family of jet model aviation which he always was a passionate enthusiast for.

All our thoughts and prayers are with those who are left behind and miss him, especially his family and friends.

We will always keep our good friend Roger Shipley in honorable memory.

In deep sorrow,

The IJMC Board
Marc Froehn,
Chairman
